Summit Attends the Annual NYS M/WBE Forum
On October 3 and 4, the Summit team attended the annual New York State M/WBE Forum.
This year’s theme, “Grow with NYS,” offered educational opportunities for diverse businesses to expand their reach. The event took place at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, offering to all attendees a variety of workshops, seminars, exhibitions, and networking opportunities. More than 2,000 professionals were present.
M/WBE certified organizations offered services and products such as advertising, IT services, and others, and all were encouraged to network. Seminars encouraged more interaction with discussions such as “Certification 101”, “Access to Capital”, and “Best Practices to Increase Contract Opportunities.” Companies with Supplier Diversity programs also attended, discussing their initiatives and the possibility of establishing new partnerships.
Numerous Summit employees were in attendance, including Director of Talent Acquisition and Diversity & Inclusion Officer Natalie Califano, Vice President of Commercial Division Services Dan Sepulveda, and Hudson Valley Regional Manager Jude Murphy. During the forum, they spoke with many MWBE businesses about the benefits of partnering with Summit.
Discussing the event, Natalie said, “Summit is honored to participate in the annual forum. It’s important that we support and partner with diverse businesses, and events such as this allow us to continue to do so.”
The Forum is a continuation of Governor Cuomo’s M/WBE initiative, which sets a 30 percent M/WBE utilization goal. The Forum is a learning and networking environment for M/WBE organizations to gain information on how to grow their business, as well as offer opportunities for meeting companies with supplier diversity programs.
